Amateur radio world map

CQ and ITU zones, IARU regions, time zones and locators on a single map, with the grey line, DX Cluster spots, satellites and aurora live. Tap any point: you get its zone, local time, distance and antenna heading from your QTH.

01

CQ and ITU zones

The 40 CQ zones (WAZ award, CQ WW contest) and the 90 ITU zones (IARU HF Championship). Switzerland is in CQ zone 14 and ITU zone 28. Load your ADIF log to see the zones you still need.

02

IARU regions

The three ITU regions, drawn from lines A, B and C in Article 5 of the Radio Regulations. Your station's band plan depends on your region: Switzerland is in Region 1.

03

Time zones and local time

The official time zones, with live local time and clock changes. Handy for knowing whether the station you want to call is still asleep.

04

Maidenhead locators

Fields, squares and subsquares appear as you zoom in. Type a locator, such as JN36, to go straight there, or tap the map to find the locator of a place.

05

Grey line and paths

Day, twilight and night recalculated every minute. For each point: short path and long path drawn on the map, sunrise and sunset at both ends, and shared grey line windows.

06

DX, satellites, aurora

The latest DX Cluster spots linked to their station, filtered by band. Amateur radio satellites with their footprint and ground track, and the aurora oval forecast by NOAA.

07

Five projections

Natural Earth, equirectangular, Mercator, a globe you spin with your finger, and azimuthal equidistant centred on your QTH: antenna headings can be read directly on the ring of degrees.

08

Callsign search

Type a callsign or a prefix: the map finds its DXCC entity (cty.dat table) and its CQ and ITU zones, and takes you there. You can also search for a country or a zone number.

09

Export and printing

Export the map as a high-definition PNG or a vector SVG, with or without background, or print it in colour for the shack. The page link keeps the map, the layers and your QTH.
