This page explains what personal data the hb9v.ch website processes, why, how long it is kept and what your rights are. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, for visitors from the European Union, on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who is responsible
The website is published by the HB9V club, Radio Amateurs of Canton Vaud, in Lausanne. For any question about your data: info@hb9v.ch or the Contact page.
Hosting
The website and its database are hosted in Switzerland by Infomaniak. E-mails sent by the website (contact form, registration, new posts) go through Infomaniak’s mail server.
Contact form
When you write to us, we receive your name, your e-mail address, the subject, the service chosen and your message. This information is sent to us by e-mail at info@hb9v.ch, solely so that we can reply to you. It is not kept in the website’s database, used for any other purpose or passed on to third parties.
Becoming a member and the members’ area
To create an account, we ask for your first name, last name, HB9 or HB3 callsign, e-mail address and a password (stored encrypted, we cannot read it). A club administrator checks your callsign and your OFCOM licence before opening access to the members’ area.
Your e-mail address is also used to send you club news and a message when a new article is published. You can ask to stop receiving them at any time by writing to us.
Your account is kept for as long as you are a member. You can ask for it to be deleted at any time.
Login security
To protect the website against intrusion attempts, logins and login attempts are recorded (username, date, IP address, browser). This log is deleted automatically after 30 days.
Comments
If you leave a comment, we keep the text, the name and e-mail address you entered, as well as your IP address and browser, to fight unwanted messages. The comment may be checked by the Akismet anti-spam service (Automattic, United States). An encrypted fingerprint of your e-mail address may be sent to the Gravatar service (Automattic) to display your profile picture if you have one.
Audience measurement
Only with your consent, the website uses Google Analytics (Google) to find out how many people visit it and which pages are read. The statistics are used solely to improve the website: there is no advertising on hb9v.ch and no data is used for advertising purposes. Google may process this data outside Switzerland, in particular in the United States.
If you decline, no Google Analytics cookie is set. Google then only receives cookieless signals that cannot recognise you from one visit to the next. Logged-in members are not measured. Google Analytics data is kept for no more than 14 months.
You can change your mind at any time with the “Cookies” link at the bottom of every page.
Cookies
- hb9v_cookies: remembers your choice about audience measurement (6 months).
- _ga and _ga_…: Google Analytics cookies, only if you have accepted (2 years at most).
- WordPress login cookies: only if you log in to the members’ area. They keep you logged in (until the end of the session, or two weeks with “Stay logged in”) and are deleted when you log out.
- Comment cookies: if you ask for it when commenting, your name and e-mail are remembered for next time (1 year).
External services loaded by the pages
To display certain content, your browser connects directly to third-party services, which then receive your IP address and technical information about your browser:
- Google: fonts (Google Fonts);
- OpenStreetMap and unpkg: base maps and mapping tool for the repeater map;
- NOAA (US space weather service): solar flux and Kp index shown live;
- on the Propagation page: live maps and images from specialist sites (for example DXMaps, PSK Reporter, Reverse Beacon Network, NASA, NOAA);
- videos or content embedded in some articles, which behave as if you were visiting the original site.
These services apply their own privacy policies.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to its use. Write to info@hb9v.ch: we reply within 30 days. If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), or the authority in your country if you live in the European Union.
Changes
This page may be updated if the website changes. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version.
